VANDA SYMON, TARWF 2023 New Zealand Guest of Honour, will join the festival for masterclasses, panel discussions, and - for those of you who were with us at TAF2021 - the promised joust with Flex & Herds.
This year, we’re thrilled to welcome the creator of Vera and Shetland, Ann Cleeves, to the Huon Valley as our 2023 International Writer in Residence.
For crime and mystery readers, we’re offering a four-day in-person festival in the stunning surrounds of the Kermandie, an Art Deco hotel on the banks of the Huon River.
From 26 to 29 October, join Ann Cleeves, our 2023 New Zealand Guest of Honour, Vanda Symon, our 2023 Australian Guest of Honour, Garry Disher, and our 2023 Tasmanian Guest of Honour, David Owen for TAF2023 | TASSIE VICE.
With a literary high tea, a murder mystery dinner and two-day panel program exploring Australian and international crime and mystery fiction since the 80s, it’s going to be a criminally-good time.

From 21 October to 12 November, we’re offering an unmissable professional development program for writers. Choose from:
three waterfront writers’ retreats;
an array of masterclasses; and
our flagship development program for writers ready to take the next step, Meet the Australian Publishing Industry program, with publishers and agents.
There are opportunities suitable for emerging and established writers, those working in all genres, and writers on track for traditional publication.
Both the 2023 Masterclasses and 2023 Meet the Australian Publishing Industry program are supported by the Tasmanian Government.
