VANDA SYMON | TAF2024 INTERNATIONAL WRITER IN RESIDENCE
VANDA SYMON, President of the New Zealand Society of Authors, author of the internationally best-selling Sam Shephard series and TARWF’s 2023 New Zealand Guest of Honour returns as our 2024 International Writer in Residence.
We’re delighted to offer Vanda’s expertise to our participants through her masterclasses, publishing salon, and general participation in the writing program.
ANGELA MEYER | PROGRAM LEADER
ANGELA MEYER, international award-winning writer of A Superior Spectre and Moon Sugar, former publisher at Echo Publishing and RMIT lecturer in postgraduate creative fiction, and TARWF’s Board Chair, Angela joins us this year to share her in-depth understanding of how to prepare your work for publication.
POPPY GEE | PROGRAM LEADER
POPPY GEE, internationally successful author of Bay of Fires and Vanishing Falls, was a leading light at TARWF’s 2023 festival.
We’re thrilled to welcome Poppy - a writer, editor, book reviewer, former university writing teacher and new member of the TARWF Board - as a professional development program leader in 2024.
ALAN BAXTER | TAF2024 MASTERCLASS LEADER
ALAN BAXTER is a multi-award-winning British-Australian author of horror, supernatural thrillers, and dark fantasy liberally mixed with crime, mystery, and noir. He is also a martial arts master. We’re excited to offer Alan’s renowned full day masterclass on how to write realistic, pacey and engaging physical action and fight scenes.
JONATHAN BERRY | ABORIGINAL COMMUNITY LIAISON
JONATHAN BERRY, a proud Palawa (Tasmanian Aboriginal) man from Melukerdee (Huon Valley) country, Jony is a talented artist and passionate advocate for greater representation of First Nations and LGBTQI+ communities in all art forms, showcasing the richness of Australian First Nations culture.
We’re honoured to welcome Jony - Australia’s first Indigenous winner of the Mr Universe title and new member of the TARWF Board - as a professional development program consultant in 2024.
